Watching Kanopy on Amazon Fire TV
Setting up
Install the Kanopy app on a supported Amazon Fire TV, then launch Kanopy.
If you don't have a Kanopy account, select Get Started and follow the on-screen prompts to create an account.
If you already have an account, select Log In and use one of these methods to log in:
- Enter your email address and Kanopy password, then select Log In.
- In a web browser, go to www.kanopy.com/link and enter the code displayed on your TV. (You'll be prompted to log in first if you haven't already done so in that browser.)
- In the Kanopy mobile app, go to More > Link Your Device and enter the code displayed on your TV.
Frequently asked questions
No, you need to be a member of a subscribing library to access the films on Kanopy. Find out if your library participates.
Select Settings in the top menu bar, then select My Library and choose the library you'd like to use. The screen will refresh to save your selection.
No, you can only be logged in to one Kanopy account on your device at a time. To use a different Kanopy account on that device, you'll need to log out first.
Or, to access multiple libraries from your account, log in to your Kanopy account in a browser and add each library as a new membership under "My Memberships."
Yes, you can log in to your account on as many devices as you like.
From Settings (in the top menu bar), select My Library, then select Log Out.
Select a film to see its details. The "CC" icon will be displayed below the title if it's closed captioned.
While a video is playing, select Subtitles, then choose a subtitle option (or select Off to turn subtitles off). Some films may not offer subtitles or closed captions.
Select a film to see its details, then select the + button.
Select My Lists in the top menu bar. Films added to your watchlist from any device appear here.
To set up parental controls, visit kanopy.com/parentalcontrols in a web browser. Once enabled, parental controls will be active when you log in to Kanopy on any device.
This can happen when the aspect ratio of the film you're watching doesn't match your TV's aspect ratio. Adjusting your TV's picture settings or using a "fit to screen" option (if your TV has one) can resolve this issue.
