About Kanopy Kids
Note: This article is for patrons who use Kanopy with a public library.
Kanopy Kids features a collection of films and TV series that inspire and inform, helping children develop social emotional skills and reinforcing valuable learning topics, such as history, science, and new languages. Kanopy Kids offers a diverse selection of educational and entertaining content, including movies, TV series, animated storybooks, live action features, and animated favorites.
In the Kanopy Kids section, you'll only see content that's suitable for children, so kids can browse freely. You can also set up parental controls to ensure children can't view content outside of Kanopy Kids.
How to access Kanopy Kids
To access Kanopy Kids, log in to your Kanopy account, then click Kids in the top-right corner of your homepage.

Or, in the Kanopy mobile app, tap More at the bottom of the screen, then Go to Kanopy Kids.
Frequently asked questions

Kanopy Kids is appropriate for children ages 2 and up, with a focus on ages 2-8.

Kanopy Kids is only available to Kanopy users with active public library memberships. If your membership is through a college or university library, you won't be able to access Kanopy Kids.
If you're a member of a public library but don't see a link to enter Kanopy Kids, check which membership you're accessing Kanopy through.
If your library doesn't offer Kanopy Kids, we encourage you to let them know about your interest.

Patrons can access Kanopy Kids on their computer, TV, or mobile device. See a list of supported browsers and devices.
If you're using the Kanopy mobile app, we recommend updating it to the latest version for the best experience.

Kanopy Kids titles don't use play credits. You'll have unlimited access to everything in the Kanopy Kids section.

You must be at least 18 years old to have a Kanopy account. Users under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
If you're sharing a Kanopy account with your child, you can use Kanopy on multiple devices simultaneously, so your child can use Kanopy Kids on one device while you use Kanopy on another device.

With parental controls enabled, you'll need to enter a PIN to exit Kanopy Kids or to watch content outside of the Kanopy Kids collection. Learn how to set up and manage parental controls here.

In a browser: Select Exit Kids at the top-right of the Kanopy browser window.

In the Kanopy mobile app: Tap More at the bottom of the screen and select Exit Kanopy Kids.
Troubleshooting

When you're in the Kanopy Kids section, your watchlist and viewing history will automatically be filtered to show only Kanopy Kids content. The other titles will reappear when you exit Kanopy Kids.

Only Kids titles will appear in search results while you're in Kanopy Kids. To search for non-Kids titles, you'll need to exit Kanopy Kids.
Additionally, when searching for content outside of Kanopy Kids, you may see some titles with a "Kids" tag. Selecting these titles will automatically take you to Kanopy Kids.


Since play credits aren't required in Kanopy Kids, they won't display in the Kanopy Kids section. You'll need to exit Kanopy Kids to see the number of play credits remaining on your account.
If you see play credits in Kanopy Kids, you're using an outdated version of the app. Although no play credits will be used for Kanopy Kids films, we still recommend that you update the app for the best experience.

Push notifications from Kanopy won't be sent to your mobile device while in Kanopy Kids. However, you'll receive notifications on any other mobile device connected to your Kanopy account that is not in Kanopy Kids mode.
